A 1999 Frontier Community College Graduate

Received a Master's Degree in Kinesiology/Sport Management in 2008 from SIU Carbondale. 

 

Worked at Shawnee Community College in Ullin Illinois from 2009 to 2014 as the Assistant Fitness Director, and  as an Instructor in Health, Personal Training, and sport focused activity classes.  

 

Was the Assistant Coach for the women's basketball team for 1 year, the strength and conditioning coach, and the Assistant to the traveling secretary while at Shawnee.

Marty Slover
Head Softball Coach

Head Frontier College Softball Coach Marty Slover is a lifelong reside of Wayne County, a former student at Frontier College and 1985 Eastern Illinois University graduate. He has taught and coached in the Wayne County public school systems for 31 years and currently teaches math at FJHS in Fairfield. Coach Slover has won numerous regional, conference and basketball championships including a state title in 2005. He has won  two I.B.C.A. Coach of the Year awards. His detail to fundamentals and team preparation has allowed him to compile over 700 coaching victories in these sports. Recently, Coach Slover has been employed at FCHS as an assistant softball coach where the Lady Mules have won back to back regional titles.  He  also has served as a "bird dog" for legendary MLB scout Jerome " Mimi" Alongi. 
 

Coach Slover is married to the former Kelly Boyd and together they have 5 children.

Ryan, a former FCHS Mules baseball standout, a Frontier and SIUE graduate who presently teaches and coaches softball at Bunker Hill High School. Ryan also coaches the highly successful 18U Alton Flames softball team in the St Louis, Missouri area. Brea Slover Blaylock, a graduate of SIUE with a degree in Speech Pathology and dance who presently serves as an instructor for Autistic and Downs Syndrome children in Salt Lake City, Utah. Colton Wilkerson- Slover, a former 3 sport athlete at FCHS, a Frontier and 2015 USI graduate that holds a degree in Accounting. Colton also serves as Youth Pastor at The Journey church in Fairfield. Kylar Slover , a freshman at FCHS  and 3 sport athlete in volleyball, basketball and softball. Peyton Slover, an 8th grader at FJHS and varsity member of the track team where she runs the 200m sprint and 400m and 800 m relays. 

 

Coach Slover is actively involved in his community. He presently serves on the Fairfield Girls Softball Association Board of Directors, is co- owner of The SportsZone, an athletic training facility in Fairfield and is a founding member of the Frosty Fund which assists underprivileged children in the Fairfield area. 
Coach Slover is a die hard St. Louis Cardinals fan, a devoted Christian and attends New Beginnings Church in Fairfield.

Frontier Community College Assistant Softball Coach

Jeremy Ellis is a lifelong resident of Fairfield. Coach Ellis is married to Lori (Gray) Ellis of McLeansboro, Illinois and they have two daughters,

Mabry and Dalanie. He attended Fairfield Community High School from 1992-1996, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He received honors in football as a 1st Team All-Conference selection two years and an All-South selection one year. He also

received honors in baseball as an All-Conference selection and MVP his senioryear.

 

He was a 1998 graduate of Frontier Community

College with an Associate of Science Degree. Coach Ellis then transferred to McKendree University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics in 2001, where he played baseball for the Bearcats.

 

Coach Ellis began his teaching and coaching career at Fairfield Junior High School in 2001. He was an assistant basketball coach at FJHS and an assistant football coach at FCHS. As the head coach, starting in 2003, Jeremy won two SIJHSAA Regional titles and placed at state twice in his three years as head coach.He received an I.B.C.A. Coach of the Year award in basketball during the 2005-2006 season. Coach Ellis also served as the assistant softball coach at FCHS where the Lady Mules won two regional titles from 2004-2011.

 

From 2012-2015, Jeremy served as the Lady Mules Head Softball Coach where he compiled a record of 70-40 and won three Regional Championships and one Sectional Championship advancing to the IHSA “Elite 8”.

 

Currently, Coach Ellis and family still reside in Fairfield. They attended “TheJourney” church and help with Sunday school and summer camp for the youth.

 

Jeremy teaches Mathematics at FCHS and coaches football. He also serves as the Treasurer for Fairfield Girls Softball, INC. youth program.

Hunter Bryan

Assistant Baseball Coach

Frontier Community College Assistant Baseball Coach Hunter Bryan is a lifelong resident of Fairfield. He attended Fairfield Community High School from 2006-2010, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He received honors in football as a 1st Team All-Conference selection his Senior year. Also, he received All-Conference in baseball 3 years in a row with the last 2 years being on 1st Team.

 

He was a 2014 graduate of Greenville College receiving a Bachelor’s of Science in Recreation: Sports Management and Business Administration. While at Greenville College, Coach Bryan played baseball all 4 years for the Panthers.

 

Coach Bryan started his coaching career at Fairfield Community High School in the fall of 2014 as a volunteer Assistant Football Coach. He is currently the Defensive Coordinator of the Freshman Team along with assisting with the defensive throughout the system. Coach Bryan was also a volunteer Assistant Baseball Coach where he was the 1st Base and Hitting Coach.

 

Currently, Coach Bryan is involved in the community as a volunteer at the Wayne County Golf Course and with the youth group at the church he attends.

 

Hunter is a Teachers Aide at FCHS and coaches football.
